The Royal Hobart Golf Club has an 18-hole 6,130-metre members golf course located on the eastern shore of hobart (near the airport) – a 20-minute drive from the Hobart CBD.

There is no waiting list and no joining fee for becoming a member. The annual membership subs are $1,090 plus around $140 a year in other charges – remarkable for a golf club with reciprocal rights for others with the Royal charter in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra. The Royal Hobart Golf Club also has reciprocal rights with other highly-ranked courses in Tasmania, around Australia and overseas.

Five-day a week memberships, excluding play on Wednesdays and Saturdays, are available at only $710 a year.

The golf course is laid out on sandy soil and has excellent fairways that are well-watered year round. It is always a pleasure to play on this immaculately prepared course. Another feature is the extensive practice area.

The clubhouse has the usual facilities including bar and restaurant.

The club was formed in 1896 and the original course, at Sandy Bay in Hobart itself, included a par seven and four par sixes.

Hole by hole details can be found on the royal hobart golf club website.

“Play the course one stroke at a time.”
