Barnbougle Dunes is a public-access non-members links golf course on the seashore, a few minutes’ drive from bridport in the north-east of Tasmania.
Ranked among the top 50 golf courses in the world, it is worth the side-trip and the expense. Barnbougle Dunes has excellent views along the coast and accompanying sea breezes to contend with.
There are separate tees for championships, for low, medium and high-handicappers, and caddies are available at a cost. Electric carts can only be used if players have a certifiable medical condition. The walk is enjoyable with dunes, rather than steep hills, to be traversed.
A modern clubhouse with an upmarket restaurant and all facilities, extensive practice areas and onsite accommodation huts, makes Barnbougle Dunes a complete destination for visiting golf enthusiasts.
Since this is a course that you visit in order to play, rather than join and frequent as a member and local resident, it must be seen as an island enhancement. Show your Tasmanian driver’s licence and to receive a $33 discount off the normal green fees of $88.
