$78 million for Tasmanian rail system upgrade

The Australian government has approved a $78 million improvement program for Tasmania’s rail-freight infrastructure.

The Transport Minister Mark Vaile announced the spending package in Launceston today. The purpose is to undertake remedial works on the AusLink elements of the rail system between Hobart, Launceston and Burnie, he said. The work will take place over the next 10 years.
